This 14-minute course equips professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to efficiently export 2D geometry and specify it in 3D within Speckel. Participants will explore the full workflow from model export to applying specifications using tags and filters, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of their design process.
Course Structure:
This single-session course begins with an introduction to the 3D specification workflow in Speckel, detailing how to transition from 2D drawings to a fully defined 3D model. Participants will learn the step-by-step process of exporting an EnergyPlus IDF file, uploading it into Speckel, and configuring a new 3D design environment.
The course then explores model organisation strategies, including how to detect levels and zones, ensuring seamless data integration. Participants will gain hands-on experience using tags and filters to efficiently categorise elements such as walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, and windows.
Additionally, the course provides in-depth guidance on applying specifications to different building components, refining the model for performance analysis. The session will also introduce techniques for updating and managing geometry as design changes occur.
Key Learning Outcomes:
Understand the process of exporting 2D geometry and converting it into a 3D model in Speckel. Learn how to import and configure IDF files for building design specification.
Use level and zone detection tools to structure a 3D model effectively.
Apply tags and filters to efficiently manage specifications across multiple elements.
Define and update specifications for walls, floors, windows, shading elements, and air surfaces.
Explore best practices for maintaining and updating 3D models as design iterations progress..
Course Completion:
By the end of this course, participants will have the expertise to successfully transition from 2D to 3D specification within Speckel, streamlining their workflow and improving model accuracy. Participants who complete the course and achieve an 80% pass mark on the final quiz will receive a Certificate of Completion, demonstrating their proficiency in Speckelβs 3D geometry specification tools.
