This 52-minute course is designed to provide professionals with the essential knowledge and practical skills to assess and achieve compliance with G7 natural light requirements. The course focuses on leveraging advanced daylight simulation tools and methodologies to optimise lighting conditions in residential and commercial buildings while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Course Structure:
This two-session course begins with an introduction to G7 natural light compliance, covering the minimum daylight requirements for habitable spaces. The first session focuses on setting up models in Speckle, defining zones, configuring reflectance properties, and aligning inputs such as climate files, visible light transmittance (VLT), and boundary offsets. Participants will learn how to integrate external shading, internal features, and calculation grids to ensure accurate simulation results.
The second session delves into analysing results and addressing non-compliance issues. Participants will interpret key metrics, including daylight factor and spatial daylight autonomy (SDA). The course covers identifying problem areas, optimising design parameters like VLT and reflectance values, and generating professional reports for council submissions. Participants will also gain insights into best practices for presenting simulation results to stakeholders.
Key Learning Outcomes:
Understand the G7 natural light requirements for habitable spaces.
Configure simulation models, including zoning, shading, reflectance, and grid settings.
Analyse results for daylight factor and spatial daylight autonomy to assess compliance.
Identify design improvements, such as increasing VLT or enhancing reflectance properties.
Learn how to generate detailed, professional reports for council approvals.
Course Completion:
By the end of this course, participants will have the skills and confidence to assess natural light compliance using G7 requirements. They will be equipped to model, analyse, and refine building designs to meet regulatory standards effectively. Participants who complete the course and achieve an 80% pass mark on the final quiz will receive a Certificate of Completion.
