Add a Material

A material refers to a building component's properties that affect its thermal, moisture and optical behaviour. It is an essential concept used to simulate and analyse a building design's energy, moisture, daylight and carbon performance.

To add a material, locate the '+' button and left-click. You will then be presented with material layers. A material layer is simply a group of different materials and comprises either the supplier or generic materials. Speckel has reviewed supplier material to ensure they meet the minimum compliance requirements of applicable building codes. Speckel has created a generic material that reflects typical material data for a region.

In the example below, a membrane material layer was selected, then the generic material 'Class 4 - Vapour Permeable Membrane - 3.9 µg/N.s'. Once a material is added, it appears on the internal side of your Wall, Roof, or Floor System.
