Scope and Boundaries

Life cycle assessment (LCA) boundaries refer to the scope of the assessment. They define the limits of the system being studied and can include decisions about what to include and exclude from the analysis.

Establishing clear and appropriate boundaries for an LCA is essential because it helps ensure that the assessment results accurately reflect the environmental impacts of the studied system. System Boundaries are available for Products (A1-A3), Construction (A4-A5), In-Use (B1-B6) and End-of-Use (C1-C4).

To adopt Scope and Boundaries, select 'Settings' and then nominate the preferred System Boundaries, 'Practical Completion' (the anticipated year that construction is completed and will be occupied) and 'Operational Period' (Operational lifetime of the building). Then click 'Update' and 'Run Calculation'.
